Our volunteer committee are residents who dedicate their time and skills to ensure the shop runs smoothly and remains viable. Each member brings unique talents and perspectives and is passionate about maintaining this vital village service.

CHAIR
Andy is Thorncombe’s very own Oenophile (that’s a wine aficionado to you and I!).

SECRETARY
If she’s not walking the dogs she’ll be riding a motorbike or driving the First Responder Car.
Favourite shop purchase: Croissant and coffee on a Sunday morning with the paper.

TREASURER
Most likely heard saying ‘no’, Paul holds the purse strings tight. If he’s not counting the pennies he’ll be playing indoor short-mat bowls.

Despite our requests, Cheryl has yet to demonstrate her tap dancing skills. One day we’ll persuade her!
Favourite Shop Purchase: Coffee…lots and lots of coffee.

Always to be found in the either gardening or playing tennis (or volunteering in the shop of course!)
Favourite shop purchase: Longley Farm double cream or Greek yoghurt (with Forde Abbey strawberries)

As likely to be found on the tools mending things or installing new kitchens as making early morning coffees. Paul rescued lovely Elmo from Romania.
Favourite Shop Purchase: Dorset Brie (Perfect with our Cheese Palmiers).

If not volunteering in the shop you’ll find Sue either walking her lovely dogs or sewing (not at the same time though!)
Favourite shop purchase: The Delphi olives. Rumour has it she pops them in a Martini. Shaken not stirred of course!

Wilna Hawker

Wilna was manager until she handed over to Marie. Though retired, she’s still an integral part of the shop, stepping in during holidays and offering invaluable knowledge whenever we need to recall past practices.

The village shop wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team of volunteers.
We’re always on the lookout for new folk to join us! The hours can be flexible to what you can spare and can be as little as just an hour a week. No matter how much time you can give, you’ll be welcome, and we guarantee plenty of smiles, laughter, and a warm, friendly atmosphere!
